In past years, I've usually opted to stay close to home over Memorial Day. But during the depths of a crappy February, desperate for any glimmer of warmer weather, I made reservations for the first camping trip of the summer. So, heading out early to join the masses, I'll leave you with one of the more moving and poignant scenes from modern cinema.

I caught the last half of Blazing Saddles a couple of weeks ago on AMC or something. It was edited and such, but, lord a'mighty, I still sat there and laughed.
ReplyDeleteI also sat and thought for a moment: Possibly, the most offensive thing in the movie for "modern" viewers is that everyone in it is smoking.
Also, Gene Wilder was not originally in the movie, but when someone else backed out of the role, Mel Brooks begged Wilder to join up.
Yes, it was Gig Young who was signed to play the Waco Kid, but he showed up drunk on the set and got fired. Wilder took his place.
ReplyDeleteWell have fun, my little happy camper. Watch out for bears!
ReplyDeleteImagine, there was a time in the movies where farts on screen never happened, this, was the beginning of the end, or the end of the beginning, or however it works. Any way I wanted to say hi to a fellow West Chester blogger!
ReplyDeleteOooh, have a wonderful time, Lost! ... btw: I still think you're crazy for liking camping, and do watch out for the bugs and bears and other dangerous stuff beginning with "B" :)
ReplyDeleteI love a good fart.
